Here is his Team of the Decade 2010-2020. I have felt incredibly privileged to coach the First XI for the last nine years and there have been so many fantastic memories which I will never forget. Putting together a Team of the Decade was never going to be an easy task, as we have been lucky enough to have so many talented cricketers come through our program through this time. Many of the players in this list have gone on to play representative cricket at State and even National level and I am sure that the very proud tradition of Rostrevor College will continue in the years to come. Throughout the last decade, the First XI has toured New Zealand twice and Sri Lanka twice, won a State Championship in 2013, been runners up on two other occasions; won the T20 Messenger Bowl in 2018 and been runners up on two other occasions. On top of this, our rivalry with Sacred Heart in Intercol Fixtures has seen us victorious in seven of the 10 Intercol fixtures played. Stefan Lanzoni (’19) – Stefan played as a Year 10, more so as a wicket-keeper and lower order batsman. Fast forward two years and he is the winner of two MVP awards, now known as the Jake Brown medal. Stefan made a significant impact opening the batting in both Year 11 and Year 12. He scored a number of centuries and was both a power hitter and accumulator at the top of the order. When Stefan made runs, we just didn’t lose games. Patrick Page Jr. (’15) – Patrick only played in Years 10 and 11, however it was clear right from the start what a prodigious talent he was. A classical le -hand batsman who had all of the shots, Patrick was merciless on anything loose and also had a very good defensive game when required. His T20 form especially was excellent. Patrick was a handy slow bowler and excellent in the field. Sam Rahaley (’20) – To play First XI Cricket as a Year 8 is a special achievement and one that has likely never been seen before at Rostrevor College. Sam is a special talent and has made some amazing contributions over the years playing First XI Cricket. His 147 from 97 balls against Sacred Heart in the 2019 Intercol fixture was one of the best innings I have seen in our most important game of the year. Kyle Brazell (c) (’19) – An obvious choice as captain, Kyle’s knowledge of the game and relationships with the rest of his teammates is second to none. He is an excellent top order batsman, clean in the field and a very underrated le -arm orthodox bowler who took a lot of wickets at First XI level. Looking back at his career at Rostrevor College, he can easily be classified as a genuine all-rounder. Everyone I ever coached in Kyle’s time loved playing under his leadership. Adi Dave (’19) – Adi came to us from Darwin and although he was only at Rostrevor College for one year, he made a huge impression. Adi was a very technical and correct top-order batsman who had the ability to bat all day and not lose focus or concentration regardless of the situation. He was a very good le -arm orthodox bowler who had an unreal ability to bowl a carrom ball which confused a lot of good batsman. Hayden Mullins (’13) – Hayden’s talent was obvious right from the start. He was a top order batsman and a very good competitor. He made a lot of First XI runs and was also a handy slow bowler who could tie up and end and take important wickets. Hayden was also sharp in the field and although he spent a large part of this Year 12 year playing A Grade Cricket for East Torrens, he made a number of important contributions. Ayden McGregor-Baptista (’15) – Statistically, Ayden is arguably the player of the decade. In all three facets of the game, he excelled. His ability to score quick runs was a real highlight and this was evident in both two-day and the shorter forms of the game where he scored a number of centuries. Ayden was outstanding in the field and bowled beautifully every time he had the ball in his hand. Callum Cook (’14) (wk) – It’s difficult to find words to describe Callum. In Year 9, the senior players in the team were all unanimous in picking Callum for his debut and it was easy to understand why. He won the Arnfield Medal as our best player in Intercol very early in his career. He was a tremendous middle order batsman and one of my personal highlights was sitting back and watching him score 145 at St Peter’s one day. Callum’s wicket-keeping was of a very high standard, in particular his ability to stand up to the stumps to quick bowlers. Team of the Decade 2010-2020
